Most days, it has been off a majority of the time. These conditions are a favorite for fly fishers, especially those fishing immediately below the dam.Things like farming, fertilizing, pavement, septic systems, and silting/bank deterioration can cause negative effects on the health of the water. We are part of a team with Missouri State University that will be conducting the on-the ground science regarding the health of Lake Taneycomo and how that could be improved.Lake Taneycomo is unique. The 22-mile-long lake is really a section of the White River sandwiched between Table Rock Dam and Powersite Dam. It flows and fishes like a river.The water near the bottom stays cool, averaging 48 degrees year-round. During power generation, this cold water is released into Lake Taneycomo.
